Martinsville Tavern
About This Spot
Stepping into Martinsville Tavern feels like finding a comfortable hideaway just off a well-traveled road in the heart of New Jersey. The moment you arrive, there’s a gentle ease to the place—an inviting blend of rustic charm and a quietly polished atmosphere that encourages you to slow down and settle in. Stone accents and warm wood tones quietly set the mood for an evening that could effortlessly shift from lively conversation at the bar to a more intimate meal in one of the cozy dining corners.
This isn’t a place that rushes you. Instead, the pace is thoughtfully measured, allowing the little moments to surface—whether that’s savoring a thoughtfully crafted cocktail, exchanging stories over a perfectly cooked steak, or simply soaking up the soft ambient buzz of fellow diners nearby. Diverse guests gather here: couples marking a casual date night, groups pausing between everyday routines, and locals who know that Martinsville Tavern offers more than just a meal—it offers a space to reconnect, unwind, and share.
The comfort food here has quiet depth to it. You might find yourself drawn to dishes that balance hearty warmth with surprising touches—like a tender pork chop alongside a fresh tavern salad, or the satisfying richness of expertly prepared prime rib paired with roasted veggies that still hold a note of brightness. Behind the bar, creative cocktails weave familiar flavors into unexpected combinations, making each sip feel like a small discovery in itself.
Mood-wise, it’s all about striking the right balance: lively enough to feel energized, yet intimate enough that conversations aren’t lost to clamor. The thoughtfully designed space ensures that even on a busy night, the hum of voices blends with clinking glasses rather than overpowering them. It’s clear that attentive, genuine service is part of the experience, with staff who know how to be present without being intrusive—a welcome quality that keeps guests feeling cared for throughout their visit.
For anyone looking to spend an evening where the pleasures of good food, carefully poured drinks, and genuine human moments come together quietly—and without pretense—Martinsville Tavern offers a place that feels both timeless and warmly alive, a local gem with a story in every corner.

There is nothing better than enjoying a chef's kiss food surrounded with a romantically rustic and stoney ambience. I definitely will come back next time to experience a whole dine-in with their popular cocktails. The only minus is the parking lot. The entrance is located right at the traffic intersection making it difficult for people to turn left to enter. Unless the restaurant is on your right side when you're approaching it.

Cozy cute place. The signature calamari and the tavern salad was delicious. The butchers steak was cooked to perfection, however the marinade was a little on the sweet side for me. Service was excellent. Wish I had room for dessert.

A few of our friends have recommended this spot to us and it is a solidly great place! Lots of staff were very attentive and friendly. You’ll definitely need a reservation on weekends. They make the most of every nook and cranny. The menu is clever and unique but not stuffy. The drinks from the bar were terrific. Service is fast but they won’t rush you. A great date spot.

Cozy tavern on a main road in Martinsville. Large parking lot in the back, as well as across the street in a shopping plaza. The tavern is quite large - there is a bar area where you can get pub food and drinks, large dining room and a private room in the front of the restaurant. Although the restaurant was packed last night (Thursday), it wasn't too loud, which we liked, since we met friends and wanted to catch up. Extensive food menu with lots of choices in pasta, meat, fish and vegetarian, as well as side dishes, appetizers and desserts. Really interesting cocktails as well. Will return.

This place is awesome. Delicious food. Nice, cozy, cute atmosphere. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. The steaks are super professionally cooked. The crab cake was amazing and the linguine and clams was really Flavorful and filling. Great service including valet parking. Great place for a date night. I’d like to go back for the lunch menu and try a few things

This place was awesome. After our bike ride at Chimney Rock, we did a quick Google search and voila a few minutes down the road. We got there right when they opened. It is on a major road with plenty of parking in the rear. The staff at this shift were very accommodating. They sat us in the front of the building. Which looked like a new addition. Empty wine glasses where out this place looked snazzy. The majority of the group ordered the Brisket sandwich while two odd balls ordered the burger. The burger looked juicy. The brisket was tasty, but the amount of fries we all got were disappointing. I wouldn’t even say just right. More fries would of been appreciated. Will come again if I am in town to try other dishes.

First time here, crowded on a Friday evening but was able to get two seats at the bar due to very lucky timing. Drinks were well made, wine by the glass options were good, food was tasty and delivered quickly, service was excellent. The bar area was noisy initially at 5:00 but leveled off an hour later. Overall good experience, will definitely go again.
